Description
This is a BMC high-performance replacement air filter for the Triumph Thruxton 1200, corresponding to BMC part number FM917/20, which also covers the Speed Twin 1200. It installs directly inside the standard airbox as a direct replacement for the OEM paper air filter, requiring no modification. Unlike a disposable paper element, the BMC filter is made from multiple layers of cotton gauze soaked in low-viscosity filter oil and enclosed in an epoxy-coated alloy mesh, a construction designed to improve airflow to the engine for a quicker, smoother throttle response while still filtering effectively. BMC states the filter captures particles down to around 7 microns under ISO 5011 testing. The element is produced using BMC’s Full Moulding process, which forms the filter as a single piece with no glued corners, removing weak points and improving durability. The filter is pre-oiled and ready to fit, and because it is a reusable element it can be cleaned and regenerated with the appropriate BMC wash kit instead of being replaced.
