Description
The Puig engine cover protectors, reference 20135, are a set of protective covers designed for the Kawasaki Z900. They are made from 4mm polypropylene, an ultralight material that Puig states guarantees greater durability and resistance of the engine block to possible impacts while riding. The covers are shaped to fit the engine cases of the Z900 closely, providing comprehensive protection to the vulnerable engine covers in the event of a fall or contact with the road or other obstacles. The protectors have a matt finish that blends in with the styling of the motorcycle. They attach to the bike by screwing directly onto the motor housing itself, and the kit consists of three engine covers to protect the relevant sides of the engine. By taking the brunt of an impact, these covers help shield the original engine casings underneath, which can be costly to replace if damaged. Puig notes that this type of engine cover protector complements other protective elements such as crash pads or axle protectors, allowing the rider to build up a more complete protection package for the bike. As a model-specific, bolt-on accessory, the engine cover protectors are intended to add a practical layer of defence to the Z900 without significant modification.
