The BMC WA250-500 is a complete filter washing kit designed to clean and regenerate BMC reusable cotton air filters, restoring their performance instead of replacing them. The kit contains a 500 ml bottle of special BMC cleaning detergent and a 250 ml bottle of BMC filter oil for re-oiling the cotton gauze after washing. The detergent loosens and removes accumulated dirt, dust and old oil from the cotton filter media, after which the filter is rinsed and dried before fresh filter oil is applied to restore its filtering and air flow characteristics. BMC recommends regenerating a filter, meaning washing it and reapplying oil, roughly every 20,000 to 25,000 km to ensure best performance and long service life, though this is an estimate that varies with climatic conditions and the terrain on which the vehicle is used, such as sand or dirt roads. The kit is suitable for both motorcycle and car BMC air filters and can also be used on cotton filters of similar design. Because BMC air filters are washable and reusable rather than disposable, using this kit allows owners to maintain their existing filter over a long lifespan, avoiding the recurring cost of buying replacement filters while keeping filtration and air flow at optimum levels.
