Description
This is BMC’s air filter cleaning detergent, supplied in a 5-litre size. It is the wash fluid used to clean and regenerate BMC’s reusable performance air filters, which are made from oiled cotton gauze and are designed to be washed and re-oiled rather than thrown away. Over time a performance filter collects dust, dirt and old filter oil; the BMC detergent is formulated to break down and remove this contamination so that the filter’s airflow and filtration are restored. After washing with the detergent and allowing the filter to dry, the cotton is re-treated with BMC filter oil before being refitted. BMC recommends regenerating a filter roughly every 20,000 to 25,000 km, though this is only a guide and the real interval depends on riding conditions such as dust, sand and dirt roads. The 5-litre size is a bulk quantity suited to workshops or to owners who maintain several filters or clean them regularly. BMC advises using genuine BMC cleaning products on its filters, as unsuitable detergents can be ineffective or can damage the filter. It is a maintenance consumable intended to extend the service life of washable BMC performance air filters.
